Sr. SQL Server Database Architect
Fulltime
100% Remote

We have an immediate new job opening for a Sr. MSSQL Database Architect to join our client's IT team. This is a great opportunity to join a global company that is currently going through a huge software expansion. The Sr. SQL Server Database Architect reviews, evaluates, designs, implements, and maintains company database(s) associated with their financial software products, as well as identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams, and documents the process. This role demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Sr. MSSQL Database Architect performs a variety of tasks, may provide consultation on complex projects, and is considered to be a top-level contributor/specialist.
*This role can be located anywhere in the U.S.

RESPONSIBILITIES
o Provides database support, including on-call responsibility and unscheduled off-hour support.
o Designs schema changes and other components in tandem with other DBAs and/or team members and assesses potential impact to the production environment.
o Works closely with other departments to ensure platform stability and optimal database performance.
o Assists with production design, administration, and support of large MSSQL databases for financial applications.
o Provides database support, including on-call responsibility and unscheduled off-hour support.
o Implements database changes and proactively identifies issues to prevent outages.
o Participates in application development projects to evolve database architecture and design, including analysis of developer-created SQL for performance and correctness.
o Develops SQL as necessary for use in development of applications, as well as generating reports of business domain data.
o Designs schema changes and other components in tandem with other DBAs and/or team members and assesses potential impact to the production environment.
o Works closely with other departments to ensure platform stability and optimal database performance.
o Assists with the performance, analysis, and tuning of the staging and production database instances.
o Creates clear documentation of operating procedures, database object layout, work flow diagrams, and specifications for developed databases.
o Provides and designs tools and scripts to assist with data analysis, problem diagnosis, strategic planning, and the management of the database and transaction processing environment.
o Assists with the design, implementation, documentation, and monitoring of backup/recovery procedures.
o Assists in the development of a methodology for the ongoing assessment of database performance and the identification of problem areas.
o Database Reporting using various reporting tools such as Telerik Reporting, SSRS, and Crystal Reports.
o Maintains and supports adherence to Ryan security policies.
o Trains technical support and applications staff.

REQUIREMENTS
o 7+ years of experience with MSSQL relational databases and high-volume transaction processing systems, preferably in a custom software development environment, with at least 1 year in large data environment.
o Experience as an MSSQL DBA or MSSQL Developer in a business environment may be considered equivalent.
o Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL. A working knowledge of .NET Entity Framework is a plus.
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Mathematics.
